On Saturday, February 27th, 2021, members of Oglethorpe County Volunteer Fire and Rescue trained and practiced pump operations on Blackthorn Road. Members from Beaverdam, Sandy Cross, Devil’s Pond, Crawford, Wesley Chapel, Vesta, and Arnoldsville Volunteer Fire Departments each showed up with their fire engines and/or tankers and simulated shuttling water from a water source to a simulated fire scene. Each member had the opportunity to learn how to correctly and efficiently operate the fire pumps and equipment in order to better serve our county in the case of a fire.
